Argumentative Essay About Christmas

Improved Essays
Christmas is coming up and I'm sure most of us are dreading those overcrowded shopping malls. Aside from the busy stores and pushy shoppers, my least favorite part of the holidays is my drindling wallet. With being a full time Mom to three children, I often find it complicated to stick to a budget. I'm always trying to keep Christmas being the "big" holiday for my family. I always try to make it extra special for everyone involved, and try to at least buy one or two things each that the kids have shown interest in over the year. Of course all children love to write their letters to Santa and always include "the list". My chidlren always make sure that Mom and Dad have a copy, just incase Santa doesn't come through with everything they asked …show more content…
With Boxing day and Black Friday sales becoming bigger in Canada, I find them both to be a few of my favorites. I will start by putting away a little bit of money each month. Not no crazy amount, as we still have bills to be paid. Even $20.00 here and there could add up and get that fancy new video game your son or daughter has been eyeing up all year long. In our home we are always reading the flyers and catalogs weekly to find the latest sales. Some sales are bigger than others, whereas some are just a couple cents off. We also try to cut down on the things that aren't nessceities, like dinig out or going to the movies. Staying in, making our own meals, even invovling the kids with helping to prepare the meal is fun. We often rent movies, rather then going to the cinemas, the snacks alone cost you an arm and a leg. You would be surprised on just how much you could save with cutting out things that are for sure fun, but replacing them with activities that are just as fun. I think by keeping your eye out for checking flyers, and sales, cutting down on a few simple things can make keeping a budget alot easier and can benefit your wallet and your sanity around Christmas

Reading Assignment 4 The major reason for returning to school to complete my degree was based on not taking my memory for granted. I find that my memory has changed, not recalling names was the most frustrating, since I was never good with that anyway. On many occasions, I find myself not remembering what I wanted to do when I enter another room. In order to be more productive and not overwhelmed, I keep a calendar and a journal. At times, I have posted notes on my cell phone calendar, so I get a daily reminder.…

Winnit wanted to put up a statue to show his religion, but he put it right in front of another religious statue. Official take it down thus making Winnit mad, so he files a lawsuit demanding to put it back up. The District court ruled in favor of the officials saying that it wasn’t a violation of freedom of exercise of religion, and if the troll was kept would act as government speech, which is a violation of the First Amendment. The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals disagreed with both the District and eventually the Supreme Court. I have a dissenting opinion with the majority with the Supreme Court.…

“Should Australia Day be celebrated on the 26th of January?” Most people think that this date should be changed so it is less offensive to the aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population. This is incliuding a man named Chris Graham from Aboriginal Affairs who wrote an article on the 26/1/16 called ‘Change the date; Read this if you want to know why Australia day is offensive’. Chris thinks that Australia Day is an unnecessary reminder of the troubles of the indigenous population and how this represents a deep disrespect towards them. He speaks in both an aggressive and informal tone and supports his contention with a picture of Kevin Rudd after he denied his promise.…

Every second Monday in October, people all around the world take the day off to celebrate the so-called “discoverer” of the New World, Christopher Columbus. Columbus Day has been a celebrated federal holiday since the year 1943. But what is there to celebrate? Columbus enslaved, killed, and tortured the Natives living on the islands. Christopher Columbus should most definitely be judged by today’s standards, and the idea of continuing the celebration of this absurd holiday should not be up for discussion.…

In the articles “Three Cheers for the Nanny State,” “Ban the Ban!,” and “Soda’s a Problem but…”, all three authors present their arguments with facts, opinions, and counterclaims. However, one article presents itself better than the rest. I believe that the article “Soda’s a Problem, but...” was the most convincing article. Sarah Conly- the author who wrote “Three Cheers for the Nanny State”- argues that the soda restriction is a good idea because people would be stopped from making foolish decisions that they’ll pretty definitely regret.…

Last November, a week before Thanksgiving, I was listening to the morning radio talk show The Woody Show and the hosts were talking about how excited they were for the Thanksgiving feast. They all went around and shared what was their perfect meal for that day. It ranged from fried turkey, to stuffing, cornbread, green bean casserole, and towards the end the hosts argued about cranberry sauce. However, they all agreed that pumpkin pie was essential to the perfect meal. I found it very interesting that while they argued about the way the meal was executed, they all agreed on the basic components to the meal-I didn’t.…

To most of us, thanksgiving is a time of year we all look forward too. A time we get to see family, eat and be thankful for everything we have. Although those of us try to stay thinking positive as shown in figure one, it may become difficult at times. As Anthony shares the story of his thanksgiving in 2012, he says, "[e]very thanksgiving me and my cousin would help my grandma...…
