Argumentative Essay About 9/11

September 11th, 2001 was a tragic day in history. It started out of any other day, but that changed pretty quickly. Islamic terrorists hijacked American planes and flew two of them into the Twin Towers in New York City. Another plane was flown into the Pentagon just outside of Washington D.C., and a fourth one crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. An estimated 2,996 citizens and firefighters were killed and more than 6,000 others were wounded. Some of the information given to us by the government does not add up, so was 9/11 really a terrorist attack? One reason to doubt that the 9/11 attacks were terrorists is that the US air defense system failed to follow standard procedures for responding to diverted passenger flights. What were they doing instead of watching the planes to make sure they arrived at their destination? How did four planes managed to get by without being stopped or questioned? Those involved had very different stories as to why they failed to do their jobs. Whoever was lying in this situation was never held accountable for it, which gives me reason to think they were being protected for lying. Terrorists attacks can happen at any time, which is why the story is so believable. They say that the terrorists got their pilot licenses so they were not suspected to be dangerous. They were assumed to be trusted pilots. When you look into their files, they have histories of jail time and they should have been marked dangerous in the first place. I do not understand how they got their pilot licenses without a background check, but apparently they did it. Weeks prior to 9/11 the pilots were caught on camera buying guns from local stores. That also could have been a red flag. This leads me to believe that they were in on it and that is why nothing was said about their
