In the article, Catton briefly stated some comparison concerning Lee and Grant, as well. One of the similarities that he mention was they were both determined to end the war peacefully. This comparison can be proven when Catton stated, “To turn quickly from the war to peace once the fighting was over . . . in the end, help the two sections to become one nation again,” concerning Lee and Grant. These quotes support the author believes the main similarities between Lee and Grant was both two strong men physically and mentally to protect their people.…
In the April of 1992, Chris McCandless set out from South Dakota to Fairbanks Alaska. Five months later, McCandless's body was found rotting inside an abandoned bus. Chris McCandless had run away from his family and had hoped to survive in the wild with only the bare necessities. McCandless was a fool for what he did, he was a hard working, and vigilant man, yet he embarked without a backup plan, nor the proper supplies to survive out in the wild.…
On August 9th, 2014, Michael Brown and his friend Dorian Johnson were walking in the middle of the street when they were approached by a police officer by the name of Darren Wilson. With there being altered stories explaining what happened next rather than choosing one side of the story we can agree that an altercation occurred and it led to the unfortunate death of eighteen year old Michael Brown. Because of the differing stories and videos online, I will not focus on whether I feel like the killing of Michael Brown was justified, but whether the process to indict/or not to indict Officer Darren Wilson was justified and not flawed. Beginning as soon as you read the table of contents of the DOJ report on the Ferguson Police Department…
“We honor our past because it shapes our future,” this is one of the many quotes that Otterbein University holds dearly. Otterbein University holds this value greatly. Otterbein gives equality to all students, faculty, and others since 1847. Before any women’s rights and the abolishment of slavery, Otterbein University allowed people of color and women to receive a fair and equal education. Otterbein University is a mid-sized college located in Westerville, Ohio.…
The cast of Chicago Med is finally starting to get figured out and they have added an amazing new cast member. TV Line shared the news tonight that Julie Berman has joined the cast. Fans know her from the hit daytime show General Hospital. Julie played the part of Lulu Spencer up until 2013 when she left the show to do other things. While reading paragraph one Mr.Douglass made a very interesting analogy. He compared the nation to a river. Also giving the audience details on how to prevent such an atrocity. He explains how we still have a chance unlike the bigger nations such as Britain. In paragraph two I will speak of how the United states is a river and then in paragraph 3 I will discuss how he states we can avoid becoming a”sad tale of departed glory”.…
What stuck out to me the most were the nurses tending to her. I noticed that they were the ones who kept my mom the most company, who talked to her about more than just her symptoms, and how their kind words and incredible skills kept her calm throughout her time their. Whenever…
For my category four, I created a argumentative essay on the misuse of prescription drugs. I give examples in each paragraph and summed everything up. At first I wanted to have an essay talk about three bad effects of prescription drugs. Then I would break each paragraph down and make a category about each of the individual projects. Yet, I did have that goal in the end, but changed it a little bit.…
Anything worthwhile takes sacrifice. Lives are in jeopardy as the winter gets even more harsh on us, the soldiers of the American Continental Army. Valley Forge is a very cold, scary, place during this winter of 1776, not including the shortage of supplies. Smallpox is becoming a mass sickness at the camp and even the doctor is sick. We are all very weak and barely have enough food each day, if any.…
My brother is in Pre-K and before school started his teacher made my parents pay three dollars for a party he was going to have in November. In Pre-K they have two classes: the am and the pm class. The kids in the am class aren't having a party because it's too early in the day for one. Even though the kids in the am class can't participate in the class party they're still required to pay the three dollars. If the kids in the am class want to take part in the party, they must stay for the pm class.…
I truly loved the community aspect of working at a doctor 's clinic and I cherished the bonds that I had been able to form with the patients. I realized how vital a strong patient doctor relationship was and…
Almost twenty years ago a seventy something year old grandmother went to the doctor and was informed that her cancer had returned. Her family urged her to seek the recommended treatment no matter the cost. She declined treatment options stating that not only was she tired of fighting, she did not want to leave to her family a legacy of debt that would have been incurred from treatments that had no guarantees. We watched our grandmother slowly die as the cancer eventually metastasized to her brain. Before this I was well insured as a single person through my employer.…
Today many Americans are increasingly concerned about their health care. About 18.7% of Americans currently do not have healthcare. This is due to individuals not having enough money to pay for it. And not even as individuals but as a married couple there still is not enough to cover that horrid bill. On top of the cost not many people get medical treatment so that 's wasted money that could be used for other bills.…
In the U.S., the third leading cause of death is not a topic the general public knows and talks about: medical mistakes. According to the Journal of Patient Safety, between 210,000 and 440,000 patients suffer some type of harm. The medical system should change so there are more people double-checking every detail, the hours of doctors shifts are reduced and the topic of medical malpractice is openly discussed. In life or death situations, every small detail needs to be checked and double checked to reduce the likelihood of error. There are far too many examples where negligence by any of the medical staff has led to a patient suffering the consequences.…
An Eye for an Eye When turning on the television, radio, or simply opening the local newspaper, news of arrests, murders, kidnappings, rape, and other such tragedies bombard people. Rarely is there an occasion where people can go throughout a day in this world without hearing of these events. There is a risk one takes when he/she decides to pull a trigger or plunge a knife, but around 1754 B.C. the stakes were even higher. “An eye for an eye” was the motto back when everything was done exactly as it sounded. If a person were to destroy the eye of another person, the man would get his eye taken out; this is why the phrase “an eye for an eye” was made (ushistory.org).…
