Argument: The Negatives Of The Legalization Of Marijuana

“Herb is the healing of a nation, alcohol is the destruction.” Bob Marley said this because he believed that Marijuana should not be looked down upon, because he believes it unites one with himself and with others. It looks like Marley 's dream became a reality as proposition 64 has passed, which means that Marijuana is legal now. To consume it, one has to be at least twenty one, and the limit is an ounce. Since the proposition passes, that means the majority of people agreed with it. Obviously there will be negatives to this proposition being passed since this was pretty much tested in Colorado and Washington, and it was a huge failure since all of the Marijuana rehabilitation centers were packed and people were letting it get to their heads …show more content…
Obviously many people may have blindly voted, maybe the vote was for the best. Even many celebrities think that marijuana should be legalized, including Bill Hicks, who said, “Why is marijuana against the law? It grows naturally upon our planet. Doesn’t the idea of making nature against the law seem to you a bit . . . unnatural?” This quote makes perfect sense because the fact is that marijuana is a natural substance and the fact thats its illegal should seem unnatural because people actually need it for depression and they don 't want to seem like they abuse the substance so not everyone wants a medical card that will allow them to legally smoke the herb, so the solution was that they just made it legal for anyone over twenty one, because people didn 't find that it made sense that alcohol was legal and marijuana wasn 't. Even the famous actress Megan Fox said “I hope they legalize [marijuana] and when they do I’ll be the first fu***** person in line to buy my pack of joints.”. This was a change that the majority of people we 're looking forward to having for many years

Whatever you call it, marijuana is quickly becoming one of the most controversial topics in our country, or at the very least our state. It is also the main topic of one of the most important propositions we will be voting for this coming November, Proposition 64, otherwise known as the Adult Use of Marijuana Act. This act aims to make it so that the drug commonly referred to as marijuana becomes legal for recreational use in addition to its already legal medical uses. The act would also add some health and safety measures to help regulate the usage of recreational marijuana.…

Proposition 64 has been passed and many people are in the wrong believing that legalizing Marijuana for people over 21 is a better option rather than having Marijuana being completely illegal to all age groups aside for medical purposes. In actuality, Proposition 64 will make matters worse since children and pets would now have access to it, it is lacking a DUI standard, it won’t get rid of the black market, and there’s a possibility that the amount of car accidents related to being high on Marijuana to increase. Therefore Proposition 64 will cause more issues and problems in California. Californians who voted in favor of Proposition 64 will now have to be aware that this will expose children to Marijuana in various methods. There are different types of deceiving…

Marijuana has become a dilemma ever since people began seeing the effects that it has on the human body. After decades, marijuana has turned into a controversial topic to be spoken of in politics throughout the elections. Many states throughout the country have already begun to legalize the recreational use of marijuana. The time has come to say yes on Proposition 64 and legalize the recreational use of marijuana. Marijuana has more use than just those in the medical field and it is important to legalize proposition 64 because there would be less people in prison for possession of marijuana that are using the government's resources, the state government would benefit economically, and marijuana would have restrictions just like those on alcohol.…

The legalization of marijuana has been a frequently debated topic all over the world with many countries legalizing marijuana usage. However, marijuana use and cultivation is illegal in Canada, except for patients who can use medicinal marijuana if they are approved under the Marihuana Medical Access Regulations (Health Canada, 2014). The risk of marijuana legalization to adolescents is more than it is a risk to adults, even if the legalization comes with an age limit like Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) suggests (CAMH, 2014). In fact, the legalization of marijuana would allow the drug to be more accessible to adolescents which would not only have detrimental effects on the health of teenagers, but their future important life outcomes as well. Therefore, Marijuana should not be legalized.…

Legalization of Marijuana (Rough Draft) For the past decade one of the biggest debates that has seemed to get everyone taking sides it the idea of the legalization of marijuana. Marijuana is not something new to the American government, it has been an ongoing battle to control the seemingly harmless plant that the government deemed illegal with no justification other than we still do not know enough about the plant. It is only due to recent theories of marijuana ability to be used as a useful medicine that people have began to rise up and ask why we have been denied access to plant that has no proven health risks. This movement is not moving slowly either with twenty-three states already legalizing medical marijuana with four of them legalizing…

Those in proposition have expressed fears that through ease of access, numbers in pot consumption would increase drastically causing a spark in crime, possible health risks, and a lazier society which would potentially increase unemployment and welfare. While studying Colorado, who had been the first state in the U.S. to legalize recreational use of marijuana in January 2014, we can now see that these fears held no depth. In fact, the criminalization of marijuana has had a great strain on the American people through paying billions in taxes for the enforcement of marijuana related crimes and the overcrowding marijuana cases causes in prisons and jails (DPA, Drug Policy Alliance). We have since seen, through Colorado’s full recreational legalization in beginning 2014, that the fears of legalized recreational marijuana held no depth or truth. In fact, Colorado has shown us the endless pros of such: boost in revenue, de-crowding in correctional facilities, boost…
