Hungry for Change is a documentary about how the food industry and diet industry are not in it for the food or peoples overall health, but for the money. They are many problems that are stated in the documentary about the problems of our food choices, such as how we are not eating food anymore, but food like products. However, food companies make advertisements to make it seem as if their food products are beneficial to us. It talks about how diets do not work and how they are made that way. It also states how kids are consuming too much sugar, which is considered “cocaine of the food world”. The overall argument that Hungry for Change is making is that food companies engineer food addiction into food, causing extreme weight gain and illness. …show more content…
One third of all women and one quarter of all men in the US are on a diet . However, up to 2/3rds of those on a diet regain more weight than when they started. Also, When you drink diet soda, within a couple of years of drinking it you will be fatter than before you started (Hungry for Change). Just because the word diet is in the drink, doesn’t mean it will benefit one as a diet. These diet products are manufactured so that they are only temporary, to keep people coming back for more, and the companies keep getting more money. 68% of adults are overweight or obese, and manufactures know that (Hungry for Change). Evidence that the manufactures are creating temporary diets shows with how much money is spent on the diet industry. More than 60 billion dollars is spent each year on diet and weight loss products in the US (Hungry for Change). If diets worked then they would have been out of business a long time ago and they know that. It is like phone manufactures. They don’t make phones to last. They make them so that after awhile you come back for more. That is how phone manufactures make their money, and that is how food and diet manufactures make their
