A college education is necessary in our culture in order to be “successful”. In today’s economy, it has become difficult to provide financial aid to each student. Thus, many people think if state college free of tuition should be granted to current or future students whose household has a combined income of less than $125,000. I agree with the Governer’s Cuomo bill for providing free tuition to New York State public universities because students will focus more on their students and be encouraged to work harder in school. She was one of the optimistic students in our grade, and now she works a minimum-wage job because she cannot afford to go to college. Society is changing drastically and we are told that if one gets a college degree, their “quality of life will change”, meaning they will get a higher paying job. If we are constantly told about how life without a college education is hard, why not make it affordable? State colleges should be free to those who want to learn and achieve success. Although it is a disadvantage for those who are thinking of going to private schools, I personally would have attended attend a state school so I do not have to be in debt. During my senior year of high school, I applied to many local scholarships so I can get money to pay for my college education. I dedicated my time and thought into each of the scholarships and the end result was I won most of it because I knew I had to take responsibility for own education and that is what I have been taught. If I were to go back and pick another college, I would have defiantly attended a state
