Eliminating the Minimum Wage In the recent presidential race, the economy and state of impoverished are brought up very often, and mostly on the democratic side. Both Hilary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, the democratic nominees support combating poverty with policies designed to help those who are impoverished, including raising the federal minimum wage to give low skill jobs a higher income On the surface, a policy like this would ideally help out the little guys without sacrificing much else other than what appears to be a few dollars per person. However, the issue is much deeper than just raising the wage to give everyone more money. Getting closer Election Day, the campaigns are tightening as both parties look for their potential nominees. Poverty has become a major issue in the debate calling for the attention of the democrats, and even from the lone GOP campaigner, Donald Trump. All individuals agree that something is wrong with the current policy on minimum wage however. The movement began with low wage fast food workers, namely those hired by McDonald’s restaurants, demanded they be paid better wages to support their impoverished families. Since the origin of the movement four years ago, “Fight for Fifteen” has grown stronger and are supported by several different organizations who believe in their cause. The movement has succeeded in many places, including workers for the city of New York, a minimum wage of fifteen dollars in the city of Los Angles, and attributed to the implementation of a minimum wage of ten dollars to the entire state of California.
