Argument Against Racial Profiling

The police force works to protect and serve our country. The question is who exactly are they protecting and serving, from who or what, and how are they going about protecting those people? Racial profiling is a controversial and illegal discriminatory practice in which people have fallen targets of having committed crimes because of their ethnicity, race, or religion rather than on evidence-based suspicious behavior ("Racial Profiling"). While it is unconstitutional, it is used alongside stop and frisk by police officers nationwide ,especially in urban communities where racial minorities tend to live. Events such as these have begun the War on Terrorism and against terrorist groups. The authors of the airplane bombings were known to be Muslim, this created a sense of Islamophobia or simply known as a fear of Muslims in the United States ("Islamophobia").While it is understandable to have fear of another bombing or terrorist attack after those events,this irrational fear of Muslims has since then made them the targets and victims of racial profiling and discrimination in their everyday lives(Epstein) . National security is vital to protecting the lives of millions but finding a way to protect so many people may be a challenge. Many people considered racial profiling vital to protecting our country from another terrorist attack ("Donald Trump Defends Racial Profiling in Wake of Bombings"). How do you detect a potential terrorist? Racial profiling has had none to very little effectiveness yet it has a noticeable impact on the victims because they are more than often targeted because of their clothing which relates to their religious beliefs. The fight on terrorism is going one that will be hard to win the victims of it should not be law abiding citizens here in the United
