Arguments against more gun control
I read an article from the Economist (2016) website reporting that Texas has just implemented public open carry law this past January 2016 as Texas solution for gun violence. I think the rational is to equip law-abiding citizens similar to neighborhood crime watch prevention. They believe in more power to the people than to the government. My analysis from the Economist (2016) web article is that profit and non-profit establishments are having difficulties deciding where they will stand to minimize large protests. I do not agree and I was more alarm after reading the Economist (2016) article as it stated that some are recommending no gun license and no limitation for public open carry law.

We know that many countries have more restrictive gun control than our country, but I do not think those countries are going toward total gun bans. Many people think that they cannot effectively defend themselves without guns. I do not believe in assault rifle and high capacity ammunition essential in keeping our family safe. I grow up in the Philippines, and the police force response times are worse in any Philippine city/town than here in any U.S. city/town.
I am more afraid in inadequate gun’s safeguards, resulting in costly intentional/unintentional family tragedies. All people get upset at least once in their lifetime. When upset people have guns, they might react urgently and irrationally. There are some things that are beyond our control. That is where we need to grow our faith in God and not in guns. Defense can become offense when person’s storage and use of guns becomes unsafe against ourselves and other individuals at home.
