An article written in the Dale Huls of BreitBart stated that the Harris County Sheriff department, The Houston Police Department, and organizations such as the United Against Human Trafficking, Free the Captives, BASTA Houston (a Latino organization), and Elijah Rising are just a few groups banding together to tackle this crisis. All of these departments and organizations working as one, is a strength for the community. In fact, human trafficking of children in the United States has received a considerable amount of attention from all levels of government including the office of the President. An issue that a person may sometimes willing to endure in order to meet basic biological needs. According to Netting, Kettner, McMurtry, and Thomas (2004) “basic biological needs to have food shelter, clothing for survival and protection” (p.149). This treacherous crime of leaves individuals hurt, scared, depressed, and on a downward spiral. This population of human trafficking victims are used to being manipulated, abused, and treated terribly. For them to feel safe and secure there needs to be a minimize power differentials. This basically requires that as a leader it is important to be relatable. Victims are used to being controlled by pimps, boyfriends, and Johns. They are not used to being respected and treated as a person. Minimizing power will make them more comfortable and hopefully will make it easier for them to open up. Treating them like they are people and respecting them. Playing the role of a helper instead of being a boss will get a better outcome from
