Argument Against Gay Love

Superior Essays
Gay love has been an issue for the longest now and it’s beginning to get out of hand. But that’s not the only thing that’s getting out of hand, what also is getting out of hand is societies view on those who are transgender. Which brought to my attention that some people are so reluctant to change that they resort violence and brute force in order to shape things into their image whenever something that they say is wrong starts to occur. They are only interested and care about what they want to see is “right” day to day. The way we approach people who are gay or transgender is outright ridiculous and ignorant which can easily be added to the millions of other situations where ignorance has occurred in history. Who’s to say that they aren’t people just like me and you? Does being gay or transgender make you any better than someone who’s straight and hasn’t altered their sex? Let me answer it …show more content…
Hammond did a project on several countries that outlawed gay love. In many countries those who were gay are beaten severely for this life choice but not only that but were actually facing the death penalty for it. A family member of someone who was gay said this very words to him, “God should take your life so we will have peace. You have caused so much dishonor.” (Hammond). Imagine someone in your own family saying something this hurtful to you just because you’re not straight or altered the sex you were born on this earth with. Another example in this article that shows how extreme these laws in these countries are, is when a gay couple was expressing their love for each other by initiating coitus like any other couple would do. But they were caught by someone while having coitus and were thrown in jail for approximately 14 years.

Transgender Issues In light of all the Caitlyn Jenner hysteria, I presumed it would be useful to touch on the barbaric manner people in the transgender community are treated. It appears as if many anti-transgender people are becoming more against the “unnatural” process of becoming a different sex than the one that was assigned at birth. God arguments are completely invalid on this subject, however. Not to burst the bubble of any conservatives out there, but if you find that the mere fact that someone transgender is gross your opinion does not deserve value or respect, and I’ll get there later. Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner, admitted to always feeling as if being a man made her feel unhappy, explaining her brain is “much more female than male.” Recently, a Vanity Fair cover featured Caitlyn Jenner, with the caption “Call me Caitlyn.” This could be viewed as a step toward more transgender acceptance, which is a foreign concept in modern-day America.…

I have several gay family members and friedns. I think I am one that, deep down inside believe gay and lesbians should have every right as heterosexuals. But there is still a part of me that does feel a bit awkward any time the subject is presented. I think I get uncomfortable at times because of the long history of our society’s norm and what sometimes seems to be a universal belief or question if being gay or a lesbian is right. My initial reaction wants to be based off what the norm should be, but really what is normal these days.…

“In 2011 David Kato, a prominent Ugandan campaigner for gay people 's rights, was murdered after a tabloid newspaper published his picture, along with those of 99 other homosexuals,” (Tainting love; Gay people’s rights). Everyone in America is supposed to have life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. When denying homosexual couples to adopt children, those rights are being taken away from them. They can 't pursue happiness because what would make them happy they are being told they can 't have. Liberty is also taken away from them because they aren’t free in public, society tells them that they can 't be who they are without being constantly put down for that.…

Even though gay marriage has been legalized, many people still use slurs against gays, lesbians, and other non-heterosexual people. The negative connotation of slurs like “gay” and “queer” are continually used against people of different sexualities as instruments of oppression and have, unfortunately, been very effective in suppressing them. You may think of these slurs as mere words, lightly tossed around when making fun of a friend or teasing someone who acts a bit different from the norm or dresses meticulously, but the daily usage and desensitization to these words has caused the implications carried with them to have much heavier consequences. What makes slurs so harmful is the association; when one person calls another a “faggot” or a “butch”, he or she is actually using…

This lack of representation means that the issue isn’t being normalized like it should be. If someone were to tell you that they were trans, you should really have a basic understanding of what that is. But the fact is that there is a huge lack of understanding as it’s something that’s still not talked about. Because it’s not talked about and many people are misinformed, it causes a harmful stigma towards transgender people. I’ve experienced this myself many times.…

Throughout its history many people have gone through persecution, from women to race, there has always been persecution in one way or another. The homosexual community has gained the right to be married, but many people are still in opposition to this, and many people still discriminate against and violate the rights of the homosexual members of our society. 13). Yet despite the achievements reached by gay rights activists, there are still many individuals excluded from societal acceptance and even from the gay rights movement itself. For example, bisexual desire is still seen as perverse and immoral, even by gay men and lesbians. Western culture works in a system of binaries, and since bisexuality falls between homo and heterosexual desire, not only does it go against heteronormativity, but the entire binary system itself. Bisexuals often find themselves excluded from the gay/lesbian community for precisely this reason, as the gay community exists off of well-defined boundaries between members and nonmembers, and any intersectionality challenges the structure of the entire community.…
