Reading, writing, speaking, and various other forms of communication have been essential to the evolution of human beings. Our species’ dominance today was preconditioned by communication, allowing us to excel in fields such as abstract thought, logic, and rationality. Thousands of years have elapsed since the alphabet, one of our most essential mediums of communication, was invented. This invention altered the methods in which we structure our thoughts and ideas, thus domesticating the human species into the cooperative junction it is today. I am very interested in the Hispanic cultural. I have put a lot into getting to know this culture by visiting the Niagara cafe and talking to my friend Hugo who I have interviewed for this paper. He identifies as Mexican American, and is “hispanish and Latino” he says. This means he is ethnically and racially part of the Hispanic Community. “Only about 25 percent of Hispanic Americans use Hispanic or Latino to describe themselves” (page 217).…

Mexican Culture Introduction Culture is regarded as a set of shared norms such as convictions, values, and desires by a specific part of a populace that makes them unique to the other sections of the population (Hardison). According to a Mexican scholar Carlos Fuentes, the Mexican culture is considered one of the most intricate cultures in North America. Most people consider this culture to be a one of deep religion and high social disorder ridden with a contradiction over the spiritual and the material. All in all, this culture remains a paradox as it 's characterized by deep Catholic ties, savagely brutal criminal groups, humble poverty ridden farmers, and a sensuality of the Mexican culture (Mente). This chapter seeks to utilize various…
John Hughes wrote and directed the cult-like movie which is set in the 1980s called the Breakfast Club. The movie is about high school students that all do something wrong during school and end up in a day-long Saturday detention with an extremely strict principal that has them work towards a single goal. Throughout the movie the interaction among the different characters is very interesting and eye opening about how people can learn to get along and to communicate, The diversity of the group, variations between and among people, is easy to recognize as it consists of Claire who is the popular school princess, Andrew the big school jock, John Bender the bad boy, Brian the brainiac, and Allison the school outcast and basket case. The group seems to be in culture shock, the psychological discomfort of adjusting to a new cultural situation, at the start of the day since the five students are pretty much strangers to each other.…
Interpersonal communication is the process of sending and receiving information between two or more people. It is a person-to-person contact, it includes everyday exchange that may be formal or informal and can take place anywhere by means of words, sounds, facial expression, gestures and postures. Two significant learning points for me during this course was in module 3, using the I-language instead of you-language which gives power over our thoughts, feelings and emotions to others. To take responsibility for your own feelings, rely on I language rather than you language. I language owns thoughts and feelings and does not blame them on others (Wood 125).…
