We don’t have TV’s in our house, instead we have 5 computers with big screens as monitors. My home pc has a 52 inch TV for a monitor, my wife has a 42 inch on her computer, the living room has a 52 with a win 7 tower, and the bedroom has a ASUS laptop hooked to a 32 inch TV for its monitor. This unit is my school computer, it is an HP pavilion laptop that leaves with me every day when I go to KPC.

I got my footing once again and shot for the open door filled with my siblings, we lived in a back-lot house behind my grandfather in Downey California. As I stepped through the door pushing my way through siblings just to get a glimpse of the splendor, and glory that was the new TV, I still remember there was a big cardboard box in the front yard, now normally this would stop a child in their tracks with even the tiniest of imaginations, after all it was a heavy duty box big enough to fit three of my siblings and myself inside …show more content…
I remember the image of a dog looking into the phonograph on the side of the box, as I side stepped it and forced my way into the house. In the place of an old wooden shelf and out tiny black and white was a long low setting glowing colored screen inside a deluxe wooden console like a long table with what looked like shutters covering the speakers on each side. We played our records on the turn table in the top, it also had a stereo inside the opposite end with a record stash built in.
It was 1 pm on Sunday July 20, 1969, when the nuns let us out to go home without the days end prayers. I left my books right on my desk under my bible, it was a good thing my mom wrote our names inside our bibles. When I came into the living room a strange radio like voice come on the TV with the images of a slowly moving man in a huge space suit getting ready to leave the spaceship. It was the day that a man was going to walk on the moon.
These days I don’t watch TV nearly as much, although my wife has old TV shows playing all day long as she does her crafting. I must confess that when I got to bed each night, the bedroom TV plays some old rerun cartoons that lull me to sleep, my favorite is futurama, but my wife had me get all 22 seasons of the Simpson’s, she got bored with futurama after 2 years now

Although dated, but still relevant, previous studies proved this to to be grossly underestimated (Maccoby, 1954). According to Ray & Jat (2010) “as children spend more total time watching TV, they spend a significantly shorter amount of time with friends as compared to those who don’t” (p.562). This concludes the more time children spend watching TV, the less time they have to develop social skills and have time with their families. This contributes to the lack of socialization skills children need to be successful in their everyday lives.…
