Reminiscing to 20 years ago when our society was unquestionable and undisputable is a period that deserves recognition, because it is a reminder that we, as collectively can still remain creative and original without technology. Many years ago, in the modern day world there were not such things as “computers”. Lifestyle was undoubtedly unique and we enjoyed spending every second of it together as one; whether you were a kid, teen, adult, or a senior. Grouping solely existed when spending a free time with close friends and families or to accomplish a project or a task. Its proven there can be a negative side resulting from inappropriate or overuse of technology, and that negative side can have serious and long-term consequences on isolated society, health, and our cognitive abilities
Digital Technology has proven to be more convenient and faster than our old ways of doing things especially for the youth. We use it as a tool to remain connected with the world. We are lucky to be benefiting from such an innovation; however the youth in todays’ age are obsessed with the variety of applications and upgrades that are being created in all electronic devices. According to Chekwa Emmanue and Daniel Alana “As far as the youth of today, the cell phone is like an umbilical cord, they are attached and never without it. It can be used to track your every move…the towers.” The obsession and habits is posing a serious safety risks every time someone decides to check his or her text messages, emails, phone calls, or the rest of social media apps on the road while driving. Over the past several decades, technologies has changed our behavior and left us all mentally desperate and continuously wanting it. It has forced us to get addictive to its innovative applications. The Internet has revolutionized the way Americans live. Majority people tend to become lazy when surrounded by such an advanced digital technology. To many people these stats may not reflect the truth however it’s occurring today to all variety of ages. We live in a silent, depressing, and boring atmosphere. Everyone is seen constantly on their iPhones, iPads, or Galaxies whether there are at home, in public, school, or even at church. Majority of the times it is not for a productive reasoning but to check and stay updated with the online world. Social Media has been the main factor isolating us all. It holds so much power over us all and if we deny the habit it almost feels like you have been left out. However the reality is that we let ourselves to be left out and isolated by wasting hours on these social media apps. Even when we link up with friends and go out to the parks, cafes, and restaurants we tend to give more attention to our phones. Meanwhile taking a picture or a video of the event to show the rest of the world what you did. It’s become natural to broadcast what we do in our daily basis life on the social media. Technology has placed a limit in local community
