Some may believe a mature rated video game may be a negative influence on a child. Majority of the United States video game stores do not sell mature rated video games to children below the age of eighteen. For some families they may find this relatively inconvenient, and others may absolutely agree with this policy. Families that find this action so-called "bothersome" may have to physically go to the game store with their child and purchase it for them, not thinking much about what the game may actually entail. Since five decades’ worth of studies have been completed with film and media violence, and one decade concludes video game violence. Reports today show aggressive thought increase, negative emotions surge, rapid heart rate, and also new aggressive behavior is developed within the child since they are observing and learning. If a situation in reality is fairly similar to something they have viewed in the media, a child may mimic what was portrayed within the television set. The “American Psychological Association” states there are effects of watching violence in media. Children will most likely become less sensitive to pain and suffering of others around them, they also may be more fearful of the world around them. For this given experiment, the researcher will record the child’s video game interest and as well as their aggressiveness at a reasonably young age. Over some time, whether it can be up to several months or even years, the researcher visits the child again and records their same interests. During this experiment they are in search to see if over time the child will still be physically aggressive.
