Imagine a world without judgment. Imagine a world without art, emotion, creativity or passion. Tattoos are known to bring all of these things to the world. Tattoos are dated all the way back to the Indian tribes. They have evolved and are viewed different ways. Some love or hate them but tattoos have not gone away. I do not believe they will anytime either. Tattoos are viewed in different ways. They can be seen as a positive or negative, depending on the viewer. Are tattoos acceptable in society? Tattoos have essential history, religion preferences and specific stereotypes.
Historically, Tattoos were known hundreds of years ago. According to Matthew Libassi in 2013, tattoos were first found on a man that was found in ice in the Alps in the early 1990s. His corpse was a little over five thousand years old and the tattoos were used for many different purposes. Libassi had stated, “the symbols found on his body were images that represented what medically was wrong with him. According to Lorne Zelyck, “ tattoos desecrate the structural aspect of the image of God because they violate our consciences and God’s law” (Zelyck 2015). Christians think it is an abomination and a sin to mark our bodies with tattoos because God made us the way we are for a reason. Zelyck had stated, “ A small minority of Christians disagree with the traditional opinions and believes tattoos are moral on the basis that they are a demonstration of the image of God.” (Zelyck 2015) For this reason, when Christianity spread, tattoos popularity slowed.
