The book “Lord of the Flies” is a good example of how much your environment can change how one would usually behave. We’ve got to have rules and obey them. After all, we’re not savages. We’re English, and the English are best at everything. So we've got to do the right things (Golding, 42). By this, you can see that those boys believe this to be true because of the way they grew up and the things that happened around them back at home. Throughout Lord of the Flies, the boys chant disturbing things whenever they kill a pig. Kill the pig. Cut her throat. Bash her in (Golding, 75). These boys chant this over and over throughout the book. This shows the reader how their environment has changed these innocent boys into savages due to their change in environment. The boys would never resort to those actions if they were back at home with their parents. Then, later in the book, jack cut off a pig’s head and pierced it on a stick. Then, Jack stuck it into the ground a spoke loudly to his group. This head is for the beast. It’s a gift (Golding, 137). Because of the dramatic change in their environment, with no real authority and no consequences, they resort to such savagery. Their environment had a very dramatic impact on the way the acted. However, It is just like real life. If we are friend with drug addicts, we will more than likely turn to drugs. If we are friends with those who break the law, such as; steel, or even murder, then we will begin to do the same
