Are people born evil or do they become evil? This is a question that many people are trying to Answer. People are not simply born evil. Human evil is caused by one’s circumstances. There are many factors that cause people to be evil. Multiple risk factors that affect a range of people, violence in the media and alcohol or drugs.
Many risk factors contribute to the evil in humans. Studies have shown that “Low verbal IQ and delayed language development have both been linked to delinquency” (Text 2). People who have a low IQ and delayed language development are a higher risk for violence in the future. Having a low verbal IQ means it is harder for you to concentrate, read or understand text. The most at risk for violence if their verbal IQ is low are kids. The positive relationship between low verbal IQ and violence in later life is something people should be aware of. For example, “The young men who opened fire at Columbine High School, at the movie theater in Colorado, and other massacres had this in common: they were video gamers who seemed to be acting out some dark digital fantasy” (Text 1). The people who committed these horrible crimes played video games that they seemingly became addicted to. Many believe that exposure to digital violence for a long period of time can cause aggression that can lead to violent acts.” Youngsters who develop a gaming habit can become slightly more aggressive” (Text 1). Kids or adults who become addicted to violent video games have shown to be more aggressive, not only directly after they play, but all the time. Over time, people may become so immersed in a game that they will act whatever they do in the game, in real life. Parents and adults either need to limit the time their kids play games for, or not let them play at
