Over the years Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Norway, Britain, Switzerland, Finland, and even more recently Canada have all gotten rid of the penny. Why is it that all of them could agree on a reasonable course of action but America is still in a heated debate. In the article they read emails and have phone calls with people who both want the penny to stay and see no real use for it in their daily lives. Here are a few differing opinions people had: “For every penny found by my kid at a grocery store is worth $1 million in memories.” “ They're worthless to me. I'm a cab driver, and I've gotten penny tips and it's like, no, thank you, you know, just don't bother tipping me at all.” and “ I take it in loads to any store where I want to annoy the associate, especially if they've been mean to me.” There are some people who found a way to create a world where the penny is useful. They Have their kids learn decimals or the exchange of money with pennies. They create memories and hobbies out of collecting them and have grown so fond of pennies that they can't bear to see them go. I feel they are the reason the U.S. hasn't moved on yet.
