She were in love with a married man named John Proctor. In order to keep attention away from herself she blamed Proctor's wife for the witchcraft so she could be with John. The three causes of the Salem Witch Trials were lying girls, jealousy, and town division, but lying girls were the main cause. Town division was a weak cause of the witch trials.
