Are early management theories relevant today?

The existence of management dates through to the time of making the accident pyramids, rise of the Roman Empire and the industrial revelations! Studies of the ‘past (Schermerhorn 2013, p. 34)’ show immense significance to the ‘present (Schermerhorn 2013, p. 34)’, which is essential for building the organisations ‘foundations for the future success (Schermerhorn 2013, p. 34)’. In attempts in increasing competence and prospectively among organisations Fredrick Taylor believed workers can be in fact educated to complete their designated jobs effectively and efficiently, practiced by supervisors today as they support employees into perform productively. Henry Foyal created the five requirements;

Obligations include...Foresight ‘action for the future, organisation; Provide and mobilise resources to implement the plan, command to lead select and evaluate workers to get the best work towards the plan, coordination; to fit diverse efforts together and ensure information is shared and problems solved and control; to make sure things happen according to plan and to take necessary corrective action (Schermerhorn 2013, p. 39)’. A major Issues in today’s workforce include employment of accurate staff for jobs. Many workers tend to be under qualified for designated jobs. This may be due to high self expectations set by individuals or it may be the fact they actually ‘lack the appropriate skills and experience (L.Enos 2009 p.4) ’. Unqualified work practices often result in negative consequences such as unhappy employees, less productivity, unsafe work environment, increased expenses and loss of customers. This certain issue can be solve Foyal’s early management theory as his obligations are yet been practiced by organisations. By’ discovering and crafting long term future needs (Williams 2015)’ from the current market, organisations introduces foresight procedures when considering to employing new workers...these plans could include formal tests, background/reference checks , certified qualifications (which could be compared to declared skills on resume to confirm if legitimate) and induction programs. Organisations will further implement the plan by providing relevant tests to HR recruitment to assess and by actually conducting the foresighted plans that will drive future business growth. Organisations usually select and evaluate the shortlisted employees...and further select works who are best qualified for the job by considering experience, ethnicity and personality.
