I. Are Cellphones Safe or Dangerous? Cell phone safety is an important issue that affects everyone. I think of cell phones as a dangerous tool that should be respected and used with discretion. Many people abuse cell phones as a toy or accessory. They disregard the potential dangers and social effect their utilization has on society. When cell phones were first introduced in the 1970’s many people didn’t see how large of an impact they would have on society. They were considered an expensive gadget for the wealthy or powerful people. Cell phones are a near necessity for all people now. People utilize their cell phones to hold and access health, financial, and business information. [1] Many celebrities often have stated they have had their phones hacked which resulted in leaks of career damaging photos being leaked. When President Barak Obama took office, the National Security Agency had to create a special office to be able to support and secure his use of the BlackBerry. As Healthy living and healthcare become a working function of our daily lives. We have developed applications that track and hold our personnel health records and data. Financial institutions have moved to a “no branch” policy which moves all transactions to an electronic environment which is simply accessed via cell phone with minor security measures. Cell phones are dangerous to people’s health. The consumers want the newest and latest model of cell phone. Manufacturers are forcing the roll out of untested models that have been linked to explosions, burns, and cancer due to radiation exposure. Recently, the manufacturing of Samsung cell phones has had to recall the Note Seven. The battery would explode or catch on fire due to a manufacture defect.
