After more than 20 years of education, a very well paid doctor makes average of a little bit fewer than 400,000 U.S dollars a year. Now imagine that, a man who saves the lives of people all the time, but yet only making that amount. The United States President only makes roughly 400,000 U.S dollars a year. A person with the responsibilities of an entire nation and another who is continuously saving the lives of many, yet the combined total of their salaries is about 800,000 US dollars. Practically nothing compared to what some athletes make. For example, Kobe Bryant came straight out of high school and went directly into the National Basketball Association, or NBA, and his first year, as an 18 year old, made 1,015,000 US dollars. Every athlete is paid because he or she is adorned by fans and is a good entertainer to a certain extent. Therefore, to keep those fans and endorsements you must keep a good image at all times and watch everything you do. Athletes are not able to do anything in private; media will be there, if not, crazed fans will be at every corner. Yes, athletes put in lots of time and effort which means they do deserve high m pay, because anything that you do hard work in deserves reward. Also, they are idols to everyone around the world. Athletes make kids and adults want to be better. Fans get healthier, and our health around the globe goes up. Also, they must watch the way they act anywhere ever, and are highly criticized for anything that does not please the public; they are giving up privacy and freedom for their jobs, which should lead to some type of earnings. Lastly, they are a business and they make plenty of sales, whether through endorsements, jerseys, hats, or maybe even just game tickets. Those sales do make athletes worthy of those pay checks, even though they are ridiculously high. That money could be used for other things as well. For example, to feed the poor, help the homeless or even medical purposes. Also, their high pay causes the accessories to be priced high, which hurts the economy because people spend more money on games and things like that, that should be spent on other things. In conclusion, athletes deserve high pay, but do not deserve the crazy amounts that they get now. A compromise needs to come from the players and organizations they play for to cut down prices on the things they sell and that salaries will drop, and the players should be okay with it. No one should
