Every athlete is paid because he or she is adorned by fans and is a good entertainer to a certain extent. Therefore, to keep those fans and endorsements you must keep a good image at all times and watch everything you do. Yes, athletes put in lots of time and effort which means they do deserve high m pay, because anything that you do hard work in deserves reward. Also, they are idols to everyone around the world. Athletes make kids and adults want to be better. Fans get healthier, and our health around the globe goes up. Also, they must watch the way they act anywhere ever, and are highly criticized for anything that does not please the public; they are giving up privacy and freedom for their jobs, which should lead to some type of earnings. Lastly, they are a business and they make plenty of sales, whether through endorsements, jerseys, hats, or maybe even just game tickets. Those sales do make athletes worthy of those pay checks, even though they are ridiculously high. That money could be used for other things as well. For example, to feed the poor, help the homeless or even medical purposes. Also, their high pay causes the accessories to be priced high, which hurts the economy because people spend more money on games and things like that, that should be spent on other things.
