Are Athletes Over Paid

Are Athletes Over Paid? These days, athletes make an overwhelming amount of money. People are so self-focused that they will pay more for entertainment then they will for actual necessities. That’s just the way society is in the 21st century. According to some people, it is our faults and I tend to agree. Many people can obviously tell that athletes make much more money than we will ever make. They get paid so much and half of the time they are one person and don’t have a family to feed. They end up spending it on fancy shoes, fancy cars, fancy houses, fancy everything! A lot of athletes donate to certain organizations and the is all well and dandy except for the fact the they give nothing compared to the total that they

Imagine you are a hardworking doctor or lawyer, and you aren't getting paid the amount you should be. Other people like you who are bettering our community aren't getting paid the amount they should be, and all of your tax money is going towards paying for athletic stadiums. Doctors, teachers, government employees, police officers, firefighters, and lawyers should be receiving the money that athletes receive. Professional athletes provide entertainment for society, but I believe they receive an unreasonable salary. Overall, athletes are overpaid because all they are doing is playing a game to entertain while other more important professions are making much less, they don't contribute to society, there are better places to use the money, and the money received could be used to pay for more useful causes that would benefit our society.…

How much money does a hard-working, very rewarding person such as a doctor, firefighter, someone who risks their life to fight for freedom, or even the president of the United States of America make? Only a fraction of what Cam Newton, quarterback of the Carolina Panthers, makes. Sports involves at least two competitive opponents that compete against each other for entertainment purposes. Millions of people come to watch these events every year, and even one-third of the United States watched the Super Bowl last year. But does this mean that athletes should be paid the astronomical amount that they are?…

There are people that argue that college athletes are paid enough by the scholarships that they acquire to the big Universities. They are worth according to Jeffery Dorfman author of “Pay College Athletes? They’re Already Paid Up To $125,000 Per Year” he argues that “a student athlete at a major conference school on full scholarship is likely receiving a package of education, room, board, and coaching/training worth between $50,000 and $125,000 per year depending on their sport and whether they attend a public or private university” (Dorfman). People don’t believe that there should be money going into these athletes pockets because they are on scholarships and that should be enough.…

I am personally a collegiate athlete and knows what an athlete goes through. Players shouldn’t get paid millions of dollars like professional athletes, because why would players go on to try and play professionally. On the contrary they should deserve some type of revenue whether it's for clothes shopping, take someone out on a date, gas money, etc. For example that’s the same thing as me asking my friend to do something for me and he does all the work while I sit back and relax.…

Should College Athletes Get Paid “As a professional athlete a lot is going to be said about you, but I just try to move forward and try to achieve my goals”-(LeBron James). “In college I never realized the opportunities available to a pro athlete. I’ve been given the chance to meet all kinds of people, to travel and expand my financial capabilities, to get ideas and learn about life, to create a world apart from basketball”-(Michael Jordan). The issue about college athletes playing sports is that they don’t get paid for the hard work that they do playing. Like LeBron said once you get into the professional sports like basketball, football, soccer, and baseball you’re gonna get people talking trash about you.…

i think that many professional athletes should get high salaries, because they work really hard to get into any sport. Plus they have to do their very best and the other reason why i think that they should get high salaries because they have to train very hard whenever they have to go all the way through college and get an scholar ship. Although they the athletes have to work very hard to get their scholar ship, but they work very hard to get all of their money because they choose to do it and to make their life way better from when they were little kid. to make their parents very proud to finish school and live in a big mansion or a big house.…

I believe they are paid too much. According to Mackenzie Carro who believes athletes are not overpaid. She states “we’re the ones who crowd the tv and pack the stadiums when it snows and rains”. In contrast I disagree because seventy-million dollars athletes make for playing a sport is too much money. Looking at people who serve and protect our country they don’t make close to as much as athletes.…

Although some people think athletes get paid way too much money Although some athletes are giving their money to charity some are spending it on junk many people think that most of the athletes should give a decent amount of money to the charity to do something out of the goodness of there hart instead of buying new cars if they did give to charity the kids would have more ways pay for their surgeries, medical bills, many kids don't have a way to pay for their medical bills, surgeries,so they can't have them done so they get really sick and die. First and foremost the athletes that don't give to charity they should if it was the other way around and the athlete was in the same condition the athlete would want someone to donate so he…

“People complain that professional athletes get paid too much, but what they don’t understand is that we need a lot of money because we spend a lot of money,” is a quote from Patrick Ewing, a famous NBA star. His quote directly shows that athletes are being paid too much. For example athletes get paid a great deal more than the working class. They also get paid way more than surgeons, who save lives. There are also orphanages who barely make enough money to keep the kids safe.…

Athletes in Football are offered long term contracts for loads of money and they don’t save people. I Think the reason they’re overpaid is because they’re professional athletes they are what people watch they are the reason sports is a thing yet people who risk their lives are underpaid. For example Tom Brady makes 36,000,000 dollars A YEAR. The top 3 athletes in basketball are paid so much they are basically loaded.…

America is what many would consider a sports crazy place. If you are as big of a sports fan as myself you would know that during the calendar year there is only a 4-day stretch in which no major sports are played, and during this time ESPN hosts their annual sports awards show. It’s obvious to the world that we Americans take our sports very seriously. However, the only thing more famous than the sports teams themselves would be the athletes who get paid millions of dollars a year to play for them. It seems like everyday the media is reporting another mega contract that takes over the last one as the richest in sports history.…
