Archimedes is considered one of the most known mathematicians, physicists, engineers, and inventors of ancient times. Although much of his life is unknown, he is still a great contributor to mathematics, in which he did modern calculus and associated mathematics to physical occurrences, Founding Hydro statistics, which include an exclamation of the principle of the liver. Archimedes has also originated an exact number for pie, explaining the spiral it's name is known for,and making a system we use today of exponents. He is know for making groundbreaking inventions such as the screw, and making a system we use today of exponents. He is also know for making inventions like the screw, The Claw of Archimedes, the Archimedes Death Ray, and other war machines to protect Syracuse from invasion.
Archimedes was born in Syracuse, Sicily in about 287 BC. It is unspecified if he had a wife, or children, but he may have been related to king Hiero II, ruler of Syracuse. …show more content…
One of the most interesting inventions I believe that Archimedes invented was the Archimedes' screw this device moved water traveling up through it and forcing water up into upper level irrigation canals which was important for farmers to get water at the time. This instrument was comprised of a screw like figure inside, and a hollow object around it. By moving manually, or win force, this crew was extremely useful in irrigation. According to pass literature, the greek writer, Athenaeus of Naucratis said how the screw was made to help remove water from the hull of a giant ship called Syracusia, using the screw the water could be eliminated from the hull. This was one of the largest ships at the time, holding 600 people, a gym, many garden decorations and an Aphrodite temple. The ship itself was created by Archimedes
