Archimedes Three Propositions

Archimedes was a great mathematician. He lived in Syracuse, Sicily. He was born around 287 BC. During his childhood he may have studied in Alexandria, Egypt. During his time there he newly considered Conon of Samos (who was close in age to Archimedes) a friend. Later in life, nobody knows if he had a wife or children. He died around 212 BC. There are different stories of how he died. One is that when Romans Soldiers captured Syracuse, a soldier found Archimedes working on a math diagram. He told him to come with him to his general, but he refused. He said he had to finish first. The soldier got mad so he killed him. Another story said that a soldier found him walking with math tools. This is a small part of one big project. The first proposition states that using the circumference and radius of a circle has same area as the right angled triangle. That method is proved by the method of exhaustion. The second proposition was not actually made by Archimedes. Although it contributes to his third proposition. The third proposition is about the closest you can get to a circle. How he did this is by drawing a hexagon outside a circle and one inside and increasing the sides till he got to 96 sides. The sides got very close to the circle. The second proposition runs along the same path as this one.
Another accomplishment is The Sand Reckoner. It is about an estimation of how many grains of sand could fit in the the universe. In Latin it is also known as Archimedes Syracusani Arenarius & Dimensio Circull. In order to do this he had to go in steps. The first step is to make a system of making names for big numbers. Then he had to estimate the size of the universe it was about ten to the fourteenth power. Which in these days is about 2 light years. He concluded that you would have to fit ten to the sixty third power grains of

The Greek mathematician and philosopher Pythagoras (c. 580-c. 500 B.C.) is one of the few figures in ancient times, or indeed in any age, who warrants comparison to the extraordinary Imhotep. Although he is best known for his famous geometrical theorem, his accomplishments ranged far beyond mathematics and involved areas as diverse as music, politics, and religion. Like Imhotep, he was a figure larger than life. Some historians suggest that he never really lived; in fact it appears highly likely that he did live some time during the 500s B.C. (Imhotep was only a bit less ancient to Pythagoras than Pythagoras is to modern people.)…
