The hero’s archetype and the hero’s journey are commonly used in works of fiction throughout every time period. Beowulf is a perfect example of this because of his nobility and his famous quest to kill the demon Grendel. There are many steps and qualities from the story of Beowulf that directly relate to the hero’s mold. Beowulf’s call to adventure, the battle of grendel, and his second battle with Grendel’s mother fit this mold perfectly. Beowulf starts his adventure the same way a lot of heroes in the Medieval time period would, he approaches the adventure to prove his nobility.
