Archbishop Wood Forensics Team Analysis

The Archbishop Wood Forensics team finished their 2015-16 season strongly on April 2nd, at the PCFL JV Finals held at Truman High School in Levittown, to close their first season together as a team. The Archbishop Wood Forensics team is a newly formed team, where they competitively compete in one of six different speech and interpretation events or one of four different debate events. This past year the team attended three different Philadelphia Catholic Forensic League (PCFL) competitions, with having students place in a variety of events. Due to the fact that the current team members are all underclassman they only competed in the Junior Varsity (JV) events with hopes of competing in Varsity event in the future. The head coach, Mrs. Sharon Hartranft, remarked “So far, we have won numerous awards for excellence, including 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in prose, and overall award for highest prose scores. At our JV Finals, all 3 of our prose competitors made it to the final round.” Team members were asked what they liked about this activity and any comments they have to make about the team overall. Sophomore, Michael Mckenney, commented “The forensics team is a good way for students to express themselves and learn about their potential as public speakers.” He continued to say, “This year the team has done a great job in establishing a name to other teams in the NCFL” Also freshman, Kim Leigh Tursi added a few words in herself saying that “Forensics is super fun, and it has helped me to be a better public speaker.” The Archbishop Wood Forensics team is still awaiting to hear their placements in the finals to officially close their season.
