Problem Statement Arc Inc. department of assembly process has endorsed a two-year contract with UE Inc., the latest client. UE Inc. has requested an order that will require a 50% enlargement of the assembly process in order to complete the order. Dr. Virginia Brown, Manager of Process Engineering, has produced two proposals that will assist them in achieving the massive order for UE Inc. She believes that these proposals will be beneficial to the department moving forward. She sent an email to the Vice President of Manufacturing, Mr. Niel Jenks to read over the proposals, dispense feedback and make a decision.
Mr. Jenks doesn’t have much time to process since UE Inc. is expecting deliveries on April 30th of the following year. Therefore, if it is decided that there does need to be changes in the department for the order to be completed they will need to start making changes quickly. She has confidence in her employees that they will speak up about any changes they think will be necessary. For best results in the fixed-stations, employees should be trained in a certain station or two in order to expand the skill and knowledge in that certain station. Lastly, separating the testing and operating will improve errors and quality of products.
