With regards to bullying, Jindal-Snape and Foggie (2008) state that students declare insufficient support with bullying and that students are effectively told to ‘handle it’ or ‘get over it’ (p. 9). Interestingly Arbuckle and Little (2004) pose that peer pressure increases at this level and subsequently there is a rise in both teasing and bullying. Arbuckle and Little (2004) further link transition and student behaviour issues together. Dauntingly, for students who are faced with transitioning into a new environment are more likely to have emotional and social issues to deal with as well.
