Many of high school students, believe that their parents don’t truly understand what’s important to them, but the truth is that our parents were once our age and do understand what’s important to us. They understand that the school dance is important to us, but since they have grown they now see that it’s not as important as they, once too thought it was the most important thing. In, Araby, the boy wants to go to the mall to buy the girl he likes a gift, but he runs into many obstacles, one being the adults around him are just goofing around. It seems as if in this society everything is ruled by money, but is it everyone’s main priority, not only in our time period, but in just about every time period. The boy seems to feels useless after he has gone to the mall and then saw he wasn’t able to buy the girl anything because of the lack of money. And when he leaves the mall he then starts to thinking that, maybe money rules the world. If you don’t have any money then it seems like you can’t get anywhere or anything in life, he starts to think that he will die alone due to his lack of money.
