I grew up in Arabi, Louisiana. I was nine years when we moved there. I was born in New Orleans, and Arabi was a good place to bring kids up because it was a new area. The reason why we went to Arabi was because my daddy was working for box company in the city, and he got a job at Kaiser Aluminum. Kaiser Aluminum is what built Arabi to what it is today. It built Arabi. It built Saint Bernard into what it is today. It was really a good place to grow up. Almost everyone there knew each other. You only had about a three to five-foot section in between each house on both sides. You had a backyard and a very small front yard. The backyard was big enough to fit a pair of swings or maybe a small pool.
