Aqua Resources, also known as Aqua America, is a wastewater and water service company that was found on January 4th, 1886. This company was created by professors at Swarthmore College who wanted to provide the citizens of Springfield Township, Pennsylvania with a great supply of water (Aqua America 2018). They also provide sewer line repair services. Aqua America services customers in Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia, New Jersey, Texas, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Indiana. They employ about 1,500 individuals. The headquarters is located in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania (4 Traders 2018). Aqua America generates about $800,000,000 in revenue each year. According to the American Psychological Association, African Americans have been affected greatly by hypertension, mental health disorders, and maternal stress due to racism and discrimination. Furthermore, Blue could have been subjected to dysfunctional stress. Dysfunctional stress decreases employee performance, weakens the immune system, and causes more work accidents (Fundamentals of Human Resource Managment) .

According to Fundamentals of Human Resource Management, once harassment starts in a workplace, it can quickly turn into violence. Because management failed to discipline the harasser, it could have potentially put him in a situation where he would have been attacked and a possible victim of a hate crime.

Henry Blue is the only employee of Aqua America to file a lawsuit. There is no information regarding if other people quit after they heard about the lawsuit, whether anyone contacted the media, or if any of the employees created unions.

Heny Blue did his job in reporting the harassment to management. The managers failed to do their job in investigating the situation and disciplining the harasser. Management should not have gave the harasser the supervisory position over the victim. Because of management’s actions, the victim was subjected to even more harassment. These actions are not reasonable and the management played a big part in tolerating the harassment. The managers should also be fired. After these employees are terminated, I would consider retraining all of my employees. I would then require all of my employees to take a class, that would be presented at our office, on racial harassment. This class would be required to take every 3 months in a year. They would be educated in the different forms of harassment, the effects that harassment has on employees, and the consequences of having a harassment complaint reported to their employers.
