The book April Morning by Howard Fast is a book about a boy named Adam Cooper, who after fighting in the first battle of the Revolutionary War, became a man. Adam progresses though the story from being childish to being a young man and finally entering man hood.
Adam Cooper before the battle was a child minded kid who argued, whined, and threw a fit when he did not get what he wanted. As you read, “Are you going to stay there and fill my head with nonsense?” (Fast 5) Adam is taking credit from other and telling it to his mother as if it was his own. Granny says “You will be damned, Adam, if you go on with such talk.” (Fast 7) Granny says this to Adam for questioning his father’s childhood in remembering bible verses. Adams says “Well good heavens, what on earth did he want to memorize the verses of Lamentations every evening for?” (Fast 6) Adam judges his father’s way and askes his grandmother why. Adam changes quickly from being a little kid to a young man who was preparing for war with men. Adam quickly changed his attitude to a more mature state of mind due to the thought of definite war with the British Empire.
