Appropriate Conversation Analysis

In witnessing the proper way of diffusing an inappropriate conversation in a structured treatment group, it made me realize that, as a leader by keeping calm and ending the conversation with the option of a private open discussion can make everyone else in the group still feel comfortable to share and continue to participate. As for my group project difficulties I have accepted that some people do not work well as a team and sometimes feel that their way is the only way to do things. I also know that I am not willing to allow all my ideas to be disregarded and or my work completely changes. I have put a lot of work into the things that I have done and I don’t mind having my grammar or spelling errors fixed, but a group project needs to have

I feel as if the group project could have been done a lot better I felt as there was more of a focus on getting to know one another rather than focusing on the assessment. Currently I am not as confident on working with individuals that I don’t know so well as I was when we first started as I realized not everyone in the group had the same approach towards the task as I did especially in terms of prioritization despite this I believe I am more confident in showing leadership as Staci and Emily had other commitments I attempted to accommodate for this by contacting them and working out times when they were both free I believe this was a positive thing as normally in group assessments I have a tendency to rely on other people to make decisions like this and it was a positive experience delegating rather than receiving tasks. Overall working with Staci and Emily was fine as I have a more passive personality in group assignments it was a good learning experience for me a study has also shown that working as group positively influences and facilitates an exchange of knowledge(Shaw, Mitchell and Del Fabbro, 2015) this definitely occurred during our group work when it came to elaborating on social determinants I was able to help both Staci and Emily better understand them while Staci assisted me in learning about the stream factors overall I believe we compensated very well for each other’s gaps of knowledge . On the other side of the spectrum our fourth member Louis was difficult to work with as he contacted us the weekend before the assignment was actually ready to present and this caused a lot of stress and panic, after talking to Emily and Staci they definitely felt the same way about the situation with…

In Chapter Seven of Crucial Conversations: Tools for talking when the stake are high, the authors begin when addressing the issue of how to speak honestly and safely at the same time. Approaching someone with personal information about themselves can be quite risky due to the nature of the relationship and topic. Safety is required when trying speak to someone honestly. When we addresses someone with a risky issue, use an appropriate opening statement. If one has a personal relationship with the individual, sharing sensitive information may be easier (Patterson, 2012).…

Uzuner (2007) states that one of the online conversation indicators of educationally valuable talk includes reflective, this is evident in this posting as it is a reflection of a prior unit, EDC131. As well as reflective indicators, this post also has invitational indicators as it has been concluded with a question, inviting other students to engage (Uzuner, 2007). Although this post has adequate reflection and invitational indicators to justify it making my top eight it also includes some educationally less valuable talk specifically experiential which is seen in the post where it contains personal experiences that are not followed by reflection (Uzuner, 2007). This week’s reading made me introspect about my personal opinions and emotions during crucial conversations. Honestly, I was taken aback when Patterson Grenny, McMillan, and Switzler(2012) discussed we, ourselves are the reason to create emotions that upset us (frustration, anger, fear, and insult). Further, the authors discuss that once these emotions are created we either act on them or be acted on by them (p.104). Last week, I faced a not-so-pleasant situation with one of the certified nursing assistant(CNA) in my facility.…

My first initial thoughts after viewing the film smooth talk was mixed between being very disturbed and confused to feeling major suspense by trying to what the heck was going on in this movie. When Arnold first appeared at her house to see Connie he came off as little too friendly and more suspicious to me. Like Connie his arrival at the house came off as a surprise and very odd. At first Arnold was calm and friendly but his random outbursts of wrath shouting cruel words to his passenger in his corvette. Arnold is very persistent with her telling her that she’s his lover and to come in the car with him that it’s all going to be okay.…

In the reading, Difficult Conversations, the authors discussed how sometimes it is difficult to have a conversation that could potentially affect your identity or what others think of you (Stone, Patton, & Heen, 2010). Everyone struggles with their identity and the desire to perfect it to exactly how they want it or how they want others to see it. For me, I have played softball my whole life, from tee ball to high school ball it was always a hobby of mine. I played travel softball too and spent most of my weekends traveling. It was fun and it was a great experience, but on the other hand it was also very time consuming.…

Throughout the year, as a class we have been given many different challenges in either the form of an essay, speech, or group presentation. The final assignment given to us was a group project presentation. From growing up in an age filled with technology, I have come to love projects that revolve around making some form of a PowerPoint presentation. This PowerPoint though, was both difficult and interesting for the reasons of being assigned group members not of my own choosing, learning to listen to others ideas which can help me to learn something new, and using former knowledge while working together to create a clean, in depth, and well prepared presentation. With working in groups of students whom I have known since I was young but…

From there, fostering them and tending to the amended relationships needs to take place, both in the whole group and in the subteam space. The aforementioned meetings should take place, but additional community building activities should be incorporated. If upper-level management or any of the subordinates are not in sync with the ultimate vision of the project, they need to be released and new members that are willing to be team players, learn quickly, and adhere to the ultimate vision need to replace them. Regardless of the time and efforts that must be considered, the project can be successful, provided that time and efforts are the resources that upper management is willing…

The Labyrinth of Renewed Conversation is a public art intervention that intends to offer not only a “public experience of space but rather public debate that becomes the work of art,” something that “can end with its acceptance or rejection” (Hein, 1996: 4) (North, 1990: 860–879). Labyrinth of Renewed Conversation seeks to demonstrate the somewhat ‘knotty’ situation that students have faced in South Africa with regards to the #FeesMustFall movement. Saleem Badat expresses that the #FeesMustFall organization is “perhaps a multiplicity of movements” which emphasizes issues concerning the “‘decolonization of the university’, the social composition of academic staff, institutional culture, the inadequacy of state funding of higher education, the…

Introduction In this reflection, I will focus on some important topics such as, what I learned about individual and business taxation from this course, what was my experience with the group project and what were the challenges that I faced during both the group project and this course. I am also going to add some main overall points that I learned. Tax is generally an amount of money that is charged by a government on a product, income, or activity so that it can pay for public services. In addition, there are several very common types of taxes: • Income Tax (a percentage of individual or corporate earnings filed to the government) • Sales Tax (taxes charged on certain goods and services) • Property Tax (taxes charged on the value of land…
