Appreciation Of Beauty Analysis

Appreciation of Beauty To me, the appreciation of beauty is not only limited to seeing a beautiful girl who has an amazing smile, nice body, or a great personality, but of the things around me such as nature, people, or events that give a portrayal of beauty. Beauty can be as simple as seeing someone help another in times of need, meeting an elderly man or woman and hearing the great life that they have lived, or gazing at trees while the wind is giving them a life like appearance. Up until I was about fourteen, I was living in a home where domestic violence was rampant and in those early years I’ve felt an extreme amount of stress and with no way of knowing how to get rid of it and this to me was a horrible feeling. At that time I didn’t …show more content…
About eight months ago I was on the freeway 41 heading towards the McKinley exit. As I was slowing down at the end of the ramp there was a car that had turned off. I drove next to him and we were both at a red light and I can hear the driver trying to start his car. I felt helpless and I knew what the driver was going through because I had been in the same situation myself. I knew that if I had ever been in that situation again that I would have wished for someone to come help me. I was with my girlfriend at the time and as the light turned green I was reaching for the handle to open the door when she said turned to the car next to us and muttered “It sucks to be you”. I got out and told her to drive to the small parking lot ahead as I went to the driver and told him to put it in neutral so I can push the car towards the parking lot. We reached the parking lot and I asked him if he was going to be ok and he said yes and thanked me. I got back into my car and left. The only benefit I hoped to get out of this was if maybe if he saw someone in the same situation that he would help them out as well. If I wasn’t a kind person I would have probably disliked the idea of helping people around me or the situations they are in. If I had never been kind when I stopped next to the driver and I heard my girl say those words I would have agreed and driven

“Anti-Beauty Myth” by Christine Rosen and “Taking Beauty’s Measure” by Rachel Shteir are articles from Commentary Magazine and Chronicle of Higher Education respectively. Both articles are resistant to the anti-beauty claims made by feminist writers. “Anti-beauty myth” discusses why people are still beauty conscious despite feminist efforts to punish over-emphasis on beauty while “Taking Beauty’s Measure” believes beauty should be desired rather than being ostracised. Even though both writers draw attention to the plausible flaws of the feminists’ claims, Christine Rosen, in “Anti-beauty myth”, provides an alternative perspective of beauty to supplement her arguments. Thus, it renders her argument stronger and more versatile.…

In our society, the concept of “lookism” is considered the most significant because the concept applies to every aspect of the society since people naturally have prejudice between relationships due to the appearance. In the essay “Why Looks Are…
