Charlie Brown's Cyclopedi Personal Statement

Dating back to the days of reading my Charlie Brown’s ‘Cyclopedia, I’ve always had a bit of a passing interest in health and nutrition. I can still see in my mind the book’s drawings of teeth and bones, d I remember being fascinated with how much was going on beneath the surface, so to speak. This continued through high school. I remember a project where students learned how the breathalyser was used to measure blood alcohol levels and we learned how one body system interacted with another. But it was not until much later that I even considered a career in a health-related field.

I want to develop my knowledge, skills and leadership abilities and work in areas of workplace wellness and health promotion. In addition, I have recently been doing supplemental work in the areas of hospitality and have goals of delving into the world of wellness tourism. I have enjoyed working in a one-on-one setting, but am most at home working with groups and being involved in seminars and retreats. I feel this is where I will have the most impact.
I feel I am a strong candidate for this program. I have very good computer skills and navigate well in an online environment. I am motivated and continuously seeking opportunities to enhance my skills. Since graduating with my initial diploma I have taken many continuing education seminars and completed many courses related to nutrition and fitness. Further, I have spent nearly a decade working in this field and while it has not always been the most financially lucrative, it has been both personally and professionally rewarding. As a candidate for this program I would strive to work hard, help others and embody values health and wellness.
