Applications of the Sociological Perspectives to Program of Study
The functional perspective is related to the Early Childhood Education and Care program. This perspective is related to the program because this perspective explains about the importance of role. The “role” plays an important role in this program and profession too. “Role play” is a significant term that is using in the ECE. With the help of role play, children can learn their responsibilities. With the help of role play, children can get better knowledge to use a specific thing. This perspective is related to the ECE program and profession. In the ECE program, students have to communicate. Some of the students are not too much intelligent. When the students work in the group, some of the student can not match the requirements of the group. So one of the reason of conflict is intelligence. Basically, it is related to the power. For the profession, the conflict also comes in the way. First of the difference in power, there are two person are important in the class. One is an assistant and one is a registered educator. The registered educator has power and there is always between them related to the work. This is related to the class conflict. Sometimes parents are over protective. If a child hit himself or herself by a toy then some of the parents are start to make issues and then result of this is conflict. Some of the parents understand the problem. There is an example related to general conflict too. Some of the parents cannot afford the fees of the child care. So, this also become a issue in the ECE profession. Every perspective lead to a new information. According to the Early Childhood Education program, every perspective is related to his own way. As the Functionalist perspective, it helps to maintain the stability and order in the society by role playing.(Role of parent and educator in the children life) The Conflict perspective explains the conflict between the parents and instructor and educator and assistant because of power and certain circumstances behind those. The feminism theory describe the difference in the selection and job opportunities on the gender basis. The postmodernism is also related to the ECE course because of the active learning children are capable to learn new things and also helps the children how to deal with the technology. The Symbolic Interaction perspective, also related to the course. As the educators observe the children, children also observe their teachers what they are doing. Children make interpretations according to the different reactions of the teacher.
