Over the past years, the information and technology the organizations manage have become increasingly complex and hard to maintain. Therefore, Enterprise Information Management (EIM) emerges as a strategic business discipline that through Data Governance, plans, monitors, enforce, and control the decision-making process within the organization. This process combines key components such as: Data Architecture Management, Data Development, Database Operations Management, Data Security Management, Data Warehousing & Business Intelligence Management, Meta Data Management, and Data Quality Management etc. to formalize the way activities associated with data storage, access, and handling is manage across the organization.
In this assignment the role of people, as well as, how their tasks relate to data and information management will be examined. The following roles will be described and compared in the light of Enterprise Information Management (EIM) context within the organization. The roles selected were: Enterprise Data Governance Director, Enterprise Data Architect, Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence (BI) Director, Data Quality Management Director, and Programmer/Systems Developer.
