My E-Portfolio

Improved Essays
Reading and writing have never been my strong suit. I have struggled in both ever since I can remember. Throughout the making of my e-portfolio, I revealed the growth I have made as a reader and a writer. It is a journey that has taken me a while to reach, but I have come a long way and feel like I am finally getting my wings to soar. Throughout the semester, the assignments have definitely varied in difficulty. However, I have learned just as much from the easier assignments as I have from the hard ones. These assignments include: daybook free writes, blogging, reading assignments, and peer review. I would have to say the “Dear Malcolm” letter was my favorite because I could write about myself, making this assignment feel less “work” …show more content…
We were instructed to create a blog and react to a video we just watched or an article we just read. At first, the blog sounded timely and like something of no interest to me. Now, I appreciate blogging and have come to really enjoy it. In all honesty, I will probably keep a blog in the future. It has definitely helped me become a more knowledgeable person. The reading and videos that we were assigned taught me valuable lessons, caught my eye, and showed me that I can be interested in a variety of things if I just look for …show more content…
However, I did not think it was. We did so much that built up to this assignment so I felt well prepared when it came time to do it. I did a lot of editing and organizing to make my paper presentable enough for my e-portfolio. The e-portfolio was probably one of the most tedious assignments this entire semester. I thought of it as bust work at first but once I got more and more of it done, I realized how cool it is that I can display all my work on my own webpage. I will say I spent numerous hours and stayed up late some nights to finish as much of it as I can, but now looking at it, I feel that my hard work really shows in this. I will definitely take what I have learned from UWRT 1103 into my future semesters here at UNCC. I learned that writing is a process and it takes time to master. I learned that reflecting on another person’s work can help me better my own writing. I also learned that peer review is very beneficial and critical in making progress. I am very thankful for having such a caring professor. Thank you, Malcolm, for taking your time to help your students better their writing and treating us all as equals, even when our writing does not compare to others. Hands down, you are the professor I appreciate the most. I feel like I have grown more in this one class than I have in all my other classes combined. Thank you for helping me grow in creativity,

Dear, Kimmie During my revision process I realized how much I have grown as a writer, I went from someone who was just good enough to get an A in every other English class, to someone who had to try his butt off for the A. This in turn let me learn more in an English class than I ever had before and also let me grow into the prospering writer you see before you today. I learned many things this year that helped really push my writing to the next level that it needed to go, in order to be at that collegiate level. So for that I say thank you, because if it weren’t for you I would be stuck at Nampa with a teacher who mediates in her class. And this would not have let me grow as a writer whatsoever, leaving me stuck in the same old pattern of…

Beginning from grade school through middle and high school, we learn how to read and write as we grow. More importantly, we learn how to grab and hold onto many things; the illusions that we aim to achieve, called dreams. The drive to push and better yourself to grasp onto unexpected possibilities, we call opportunities. The belief and confidence that you hold within you, we call faith. Independence as your hope, in all experiences that you’ll be able to make something towards your future.…

As a Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major, English courses have always been viewed as inferior and subpar to STEM courses. Throughout the course, much of what was studied and the concepts that were introduced surprisingly fell in line with those of a scientist. Although science does involve quantitative analysis and calculations, it must all be translated into a dissertation explaining qualitative details. As the Winter quarter comes to a close, I have taken the time to reflect upon the English language and the uses it has in my future endeavors. The purpose of this essay is to review key UWP 1 concepts, learning outcomes, and their effects on my English education and personal growth.…

I have seen a change in my pre-class writing style; I have honed my skills, and the different techniques I have learned while taking this course have only improved my writing style.…

Over the first several weeks of school I have had the rewarding experience of being involved with the fast-track English 111 class provided by my high school and local community college. I have gained experience in managing deadlines, juggling prompts, meeting various criteria, and learning what it truly is that makes writing both correct and brilliant. Coming into this class, I truly lacked a general understanding of proper writing. I wasn’t able to write in MLA format, let alone understand how to execute a process-analysis method, or correct sentence structure. In these past few weeks alone I feel that I have developed as a writer and overall student, know having at least a grasp, if not broader knowledge, on how to produce quality, college-equivalent writing that has exceeded me past an amateur level.…
