College is also a place where one becomes more independent and take responsibility for their actions and themselves. Upon entering college, I expected this to be my faith, but I found the college I attended did not meet my needs as a student. It reinforces what has been taught and allows students the freedom to explore the surrounding environments independently and alongside peers and faculty members. During my high school career, I engaged in scientific experimentation. As a member of College Achievement through Urban Science Exploration (C.A.U.S.E), I was able to develop and execute my own experiment. I studied the effect of motor oil on brine shrimp and placed first in competition along with my partner. This experience was rewarding and I would like to continue developing my skills in the field of research.
Upon completion of my undergraduate degree, I would like to attain a graduate degree in medicine. Research opportunities will provided me with extensive training in biological and biomedical investigation prior to entering medical school. I am seeking an institution that offers these opportunities to students, while allowing them the ability to continue exploration of their other academic and nonacademic interest.
