Thus, I am seeking opportunities to build upon my studies as a public health candidate and further cultivate my interests in strategic planning, hospital/clinical operations, and public health. The Trinity Health Administrative Fellowship equips individuals with tools to serve the health needs of their community; which speaks to my interest in public health. As a fellow, I believe, this opportunity will afford me the ability to apply prior experiences and acquire new skills in preparation to achieve my professional goals as well as build upon my other interests. As Vice President of the MPH class of 2016 at Eastern Virginia Medical School, understanding the needs of the constituents that I serve and being able to identify and mobilize resources to meet those needs has served me well. An important part of these leadership activities is leveraging teams. For example, as part of EVMS’ National Public Health Week activities, our team educated 30 5th grade students on healthy behaviors, doubled public health organization participation, and connected at least 30 MPH students with public health organizations within the Hampton Roads area – all while maintaining a budget of $1,000. If given the opportunity to participate as a Trinity Health Fellow, the greatest benefit will stem from being paired with respected professionals who share the same values as I
