I began my Army career during my senior year, enlisting as a 31B. I knew this was what I wanted to do as both my parents had served. During school I was a member of the JROTC and Army Cadet program at Lewiston High School. I successfully completed OSUT and was never placed on the
Overweight program, or failed a PT test. Upon completion of training I was assigned to the 2301 MP Company in Sembach, Germany. Once I signed into the company, I was 2 percent over at that time and was placed on the Army Weight Control Program. I continued to follow the orders given to me in order to maintain the Army standard and was additionally enrolled in with the local medical facility's weight loss program. I successfully completed this program and was removed from the overweight program in June 2013. I was given a counseling statement that I was to remain within standard for the next 120 day, or I would be recommend for chapter proceedings. Unfortunately I was unable to maintain the standards and in October 2013, my chain of command recommend me for chapter proceedings. I did not contest the chapter, and was discharged in December 2013.

I met up with my soon to be wife and was embarrassed at the person I had become. We soon found out that she was expecting and this motivated me to begin to get my life back on track. I came back to the Auburn Recruiting Center and was briefed by SSG Meier in Jan 2014 that I had to lose the weight.
