Apple’s main advantages concentrate around mobile devices. The company’s customer loyalty is also a key factor to its 108 plus billion-dollar revenue. Additionally, the success of the App Store has allowed the company to distinguish itself from other phone companies, such as Google, Blackberry, LG, etc. Moreover, the app sales generate a significant amount of revenue for the company since they take, “a 30 percent cut of all app sales”
Google’s main advantages stem from its popularity as a search engine, thus giving them a large advantage in the advertising industry. Additionally, Google has quickly moved into the mobile operating system industry though their Android OS. Google hopes to control the mobile device industry by making Android the main operating system for phone, like how Microsoft has the main control over the world’s computer operating system. Google, “offers Android for free to manufacturers of handsets that run the operating system”, thus allowing them to control over 60 per cent of the world’s mobile phone operating system.
Microsoft concentrates its efforts in their operating systems, as it makes up approximately 90 per cent of the world’s personal computer operating systems. Moreover, the sales of the

The advantages to having a monopoly would be that there will be a standard in the quality and price of the product. However, the lack of product variation would also be the main problem for users, since not everyone likes, or wants to, use that specific company’s products. Additionally, a monopoly will mean that there will be no competition in price or quality, therefore making it extremely easy for the single company to raise prices to an unbelievably high price or the quality it produces. Ultimately, it will be best for users to have multiple companies competing with each other to ensure the highest of quality per price point for all
