If you’ve ever had any doubts regarding the demand for smart phones, research done by IDC states that the global smart phone market has topped 1 billion shipments, covering about one seventh of the world’s population, a new milestone. Most everyone can agree that smart phones are a familiar way of life, but the big debate is whether a user’s best option is to pick out an Apple or Android device. While both Android and Apple dish out portable technology that keeps us connected, they go about it in contrasting ways.

Both Apple and Android have an extremely large app markets when compared to other companies like Blackberry or Windows. The two distinct platforms have thousands of apps to pick from, but in actuality the numbers don’t matter much. Each company has hit its demand mass long ago by maintaining the most popular and appealing apps to users. Nonetheless, the difference between the two is how the apps are downloaded into each operating system. A stickler for control, Apple has the authority to pick and choose which apps are sold in its market, and the Apple market is the only method to purchase apps for those devices. Android is what exactly is under the hood. Unquestionably one of the biggest differences between Apple and Android is their hardware. A phones hardware and software will have a significant impact on how a user uses the device. The software and hardware dictates the phones overall performance. With Apple, what you see is all you get. The core hardware and software on an Apple device is the same on each of their available models and cannot be changed. On the contrary, Android phones can be altered when the phone is purchased. These adjustments that users install altogether change the way the phone runs. Both phones offer up and combine hardware that is revolutionary, but if a user is not married to the idea of an Apple, they may find that the vast array of changes they can make to an Android is much more appealing.
When users think about a divorce from their Apple or Android devices, the idea of exclusivity vs. variety comes to mind. Each company offers different models at different price points, but with Android variety is their key selling point. There are over eighty Android models to choose from within all the major carriers. This is a way to ensure that there is a clear cut option that satifiys a user’s lifestyle and meets their mobile needs precisely.
