October 17, 2015 ' 'Keep a-Knockin ' But You Can 't Come In ' ' The 1983 movie Christine, created by Stephen King, is an exciting film. The car Christine, usually takes a victim when you least expect it. This film is going to be evaluated based on a set of criteria. These criteria will help explain what I really enjoy about this film. In the film, a 1958 Plymouth Fury, nicknamed Christine is fixed up by a bullied young man named Arnie. After Arnie restores the car and becomes more attached to it, the car attempts to get rid of all other distractions in Arnie’s life. This includes his girlfriend, the boys who bullied him, and his best friend. The car has a mind of its own and will operate itself without …show more content…
If the characters don’t have a personality and aren’t enjoyable to watch, the rest of the film will suffer greatly. This film has characters that practically everyone can relate to. There is the nerd, Arnie. The star of the football team, a beautiful young girl whom the two boys are both chasing after, and a group of bullies. This is a group of characters that I believe anybody who has ever attended high school can relate to, which makes this film more relevant to me. My second basis for judgement on this movie is the plot. This film has an incredibly interesting plot. A “haunted” car with a mind of its own is not quite something you see in a movie every day. Arnie restores this beautiful red and white 1958 Plymouth Fury which turns his personality from a nerd to a “bad boy” with a nice car. Arnie scores the most beautiful girl in school as his girlfriend and has everything going for him. But the car is really starting to control his life. It makes Arnie an angry person, much like the car …show more content…
Being a big American History aficionado, I like to see correct settings according to the time period. I have seen many movies where it is supposed to take place in the 1950’s and you will see a 1960’s truck in the background. It just doesn’t work for me. If a movie has everything down from the costumes to the vehicles and everything in between, then you know they went the extra mile to make sure it was a good “correct” film. Christine does a great job of this. Everything is as it’s supposed to be. The vehicles are all common vehicles you would see in the 1980’s. The music is all current for the time and the set is all done very
