Apple and Samsung are multinational companies that develops, designs and sells electronics, personal computers and online services (Harvard, 2008). Apple Inc. is an American multinational corporation headquartered in Cupertino, California that was co-founded by Steve jobs while Samsung Group is a South Korean multinational conglomerate company headquartered in Samsung Town, Seoul that was founded by Lee Byung-chul (Kelly, 2014). Apple and Samsung are two competitors and the issue between them is mainly concerned on their software whether it is iOS or Android. In the past years, the issues between Apple and Google began, especially after the release of the new software android operating system, which was released for many companies like Samsung, …show more content…
The Phone was developed and designed by Apple’s engineers and designers but there is no doubt that the intervention of Google has made the phone more successfully in many parts because of their huge knowledge and technology. The relationship between Apple and Google was very good as Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt made that very clear when he joined Jobs on the stage to introduce the iPhone, and he said “From a Google perspective, we’ve pushed very hard to partner with Apple” (Richey, 2012). Of course the lawsuit stated that it is illegal for Samsung to copy Apple’s innovative technology. Also, the issue between them is considered critical and very important for the public because Samsung is considered one of Apple's critical component suppliers. The A4 and A5 processors in the iPhone, iPod touch, Apple TV, and iPad are supplied by Samsung. Even though, Apple decided to sue Samsung accusing them of coping Apple’s innovative technology, well-designed user interfaces, and their packaging design (Patel, 2011).
