There are many different kinds of positive traits that have different kinds of behavioral implications. Work on the stereotypes content model • (Fiske, Cuddy, Glick, &Cut, 2002) reveals that the contents of group stereotypes can be usefully summarized in terms of two dimensions of social judgement: warmth and competence. The warmth side of stereotypes connotes a group’s completive intent as a friend or a foe. A competence stereotypes connote a group’s status and or their ability to enact its intent. These two dimensions are basically compared the same and are valued positively, but they can also be entirely independent. Group stereotypes can be highly negative along one dimension while being positive along the other.
