Appendix A Micrometer Essay

Each member of the team recorded their own data which can be found in tables in Appendix A. When measuring, advantages and disadvantages when noted about each device. The small slide ruler was very precise, but the downfall was that it was too short to measure longer items. The ruler was convenient to use but its precision was limited by the lack of marking smaller the sixteenths of an inch. The tape measure allows for measuring very large objects while still proving to be very precise, but would it cause uncertainty if using the metal tab on the end of it because it wasn’t rigid to the measuring tape and would wiggle. The micrometer was very accurate and precise and very easy to use. The only downfall is that it is limited on the length of objects it can measure.

The plastic ruler may appear to be the best device because of the repeated zero standard error, but this is not the case. The lack of markings smaller than one sixteenths caused the lab performers to all record the same

The two specific fields even differ largely in dimensions: The baseball field being larger than the softball field. There are many things that may contribute to this, such as softball is generally played by females while baseball is generally played by males, the gender difference also means a difference in muscle and strength.…
