Hello Again
Hello Everyone,
I know that I have been MIA for a few months. I apologize for the absence. I originally started Healthy Balance as part of an assignment for a class in college. I always planned to have a blog but I intended to wait until after I was done with college for a number of reasons. So guess what…… I’m DONE! Now that I am done with college I wanted to take time to explain my absence, re-explain Healthy Balance, and discuss the things occurring in my life before we get back into the swing of things.

I take pride in the things I do, so I wanted to wait until I felt I had enough time to make my blog the best it can be. I believe that all the information I provide here should be factual, well researched, well written, and useful. Now that I am done with school I believe that I can meet these goals.

I believe that you can force someone to be healthy but you can give them the tools and encouragement to want to make changes in their health. Having the ability to control and promote one’s own health can build feeling of confidence and self-efficacy that can spread to other aspects of

At age 11 I sit there in the living room in front of my television, listening to the popping of kernels as I anxiously snuggle up into my blanket, with my family, awaiting to watch our weekly Tuesday night show, “The Biggest Loser”. That show is how my love for health and wanting to study it started, therefore the article that most connected with me was “My Soul to Keep, My Weight to Lose” by Alice Randall. This story stood out to me because Randall does a good job capturing the many aspects that contribute to your weight journey. In this story, Randall gives the audience an insight on how losing weight is complicated yet rewarding.…

Over 86% of the students in Dallas ISD are economically disadvantaged, over 90% minorities. It is imperative that educators are able to understand student’s needs and effectively work with our student demographic. Often, many are focused on students’ academics but are not taking into account home life, things they have seen, or their daily stressors. For that reason, I became a counselor, to be someone students can talk to in their time of need; to hone in on those social and emotional aspects which will assist in improving their academics.…

About 3 years ago marked the start of a whole new life for me. After stepping on the scale one Sunday morning, and being in complete shock, and after trying all the possible diets and solutions for me to lose weight, I kept failing and nothing ever seemed to work for me. By the time I reached my freshman year of high school, the weight had slowly crept up on me, and I just knew I had to do something about it.…
